About David

David Herrera is a Los Angeles native and has danced since he was a kid , as a break dancer.Inheriting his abilities from his mother,who won many latin club dance competitions in Los Angeles ,CA . in the early 1980′s .After college football and track n field didn’t work out, he transitioned into club salsa , bachata , merengue , which led him to ballroom dance training (Cha Cha Cha, Swing, Tango,Rumba Foxtrot,Waltz ,Paso Doble,Country etc).He began dancing and performing 12 years ago . Is influenced by many like 3 time USA ballroom champion Rosendo Fumero ,Julio Ruiz(A.K.A “Machito”, DUKE) one of the original Los Angeles style salsa dancers and cousin of well known salsa dancer Rogelio Moreno .David now teaches ,competes,choreographs,performs,host events and is even an Actor part-time .Being of Ecuadorian decent ,dance is a big part of Davids culture. He feels that he has been blessed to have the opportunity to use his talents to impact people in a positive way. Having traveled extensively , he has performed for a variety of audiences, including government leaders, has been interviewed by The New York Times and many others. He has also performed on national television and was picked for the Texas dancing with the stars on Ch 8 ” Good Morning Texas” in 2007 ,In recent competitions he placed third at the Texas salsa open 1 in 2007 with old partner, against competitors in the southern USA .Now as of August 2009 working with new famous dance partner Monica Flores from Los Angeles now in Dallas(a former salsa dance champion) . Most recently as a teacher he was recognized as the 3rd top teacher at 2008(14th annual New Orléans Bourbon street ball ) a competition that brings studios, teachers and students from around the country.David currently works in Dallas/Fort worth teaching all american ballroom Tango,Foxtrot,Waltz,Cha-Cha Cha ,East Coast Swing,West Coast Swing ,Rumba,Paso Doble,Country and popular dances Salsa(LA style)/afro cuban ,Merengue, Modern Bachata, Urban bachata, Bachata with Tango & dominican style influence ,and Cumbia . Some of his recent work is dancing & Teaching on new nationwide reality TV show “Big Rich Texas” in summer /fall 2011.Also as a dancer for movie premiere of Dreamworks “Puss n Boots” for actors Antonio Banderas & Selma Hayek.Not to mention the choreographer & dancer for the Dallas latin grammy flash mob  featured on Latin Grammys November 2011

 

My goal,vision and purpose is to impact ,instruct,influence
and educate individuals & community in a positive way culturally through the art of dance,media,events,classes &competitions

Dance lessons are also an excellent way to relieve stress, meet new friends, and achieve (and maintain!) fitness goals. Or goals to become a good social or competitive dancer.He specializes in ballroom and (club)style dance lessons, which include Tango, Waltz, Foxtrot , Rumba , Cha Cha cha , East coast swing ,Paso doble, West coast swing , Bachata(with tango)modern,urban style, Salsa(Los Angeles style),Afro Cuban,dancing IN CLAVE 2/3,3/2 , Merengue , Cumbia and Country.

Me & Herrera Dance group  dancers are available for special occasions such as weddings, Quinceaneras,corporate events and special events choreography and i also compete/perform and with students in pro/am division.

While hosting my annual social events .
